This is a ten-lesson unit of work based around the book ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit, designed for Year 3 and Year 4. The ten lessons in this unit aim to give children the opportunity to read and listen to the Escape from Pompeii story a number of times. In the first week, children will engage with the text through discussion, drama and even creating a parachute volcanic eruption in order to increase their familiarity with the story.
